Claritin

Claritin (loratadine) is a popular over-the-counter antihistamine commonly used to treat allergy symptoms. It works by blocking histamines—chemicals in the body that cause allergic reactions. Claritin provides effective relief for seasonal and year-round allergies, including symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching in the throat or nose. It’s particularly helpful for individuals suffering from hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or allergic conjunctivitis.

Apart from treating common allergy symptoms, Claritin is also used to manage chronic urticaria (hives), offering relief from itching and skin rashes caused by this condition. It works by reducing the allergic response in the body, preventing the symptoms from worsening.

One of the key advantages of Claritin is that it’s classified as a "non-drowsy" antihistamine. Unlike some older antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl), it typically doesn’t cause significant drowsiness or sedation, making it a preferred option for daytime use.
